Grammar Refresher Workshop for ESL Teachers
By Rosemary Painter, MS.Ed-TESOL
Course Summary:
“I don’t know why, but I’m sure I’m right.” Have you said this to your ESL/EFL students? The Grammar Refresher Workshop is for the ESL/EFL instructor to become reacquainted with English grammar and grammatical forms that are most prevalent in the classroom. As native or near-native speakers, we don’t often think consciously in terms of “past perfect” or “gerunds”, yet these are the technical words used to categorize language. In this short course, we will review all the basics so that more often than not, you will have a professional answer for your inquiring students.
In this course, participants will:
- Review and distinguish the correct and preferred forms of American English
- Refresh knowledge of basic grammar
- Receive tips for presenting grammar points to students

Excellence in Telepractice
by Melissa Myers, MA, CCC-SLP
Course Summary:
Telepractice Excellence, Training from the Trenches: “Each client we serve must receive our best efforts and skills”.
Our clients deserve an experienced clinician in both their chosen field of expertise and also in the service delivery model. Telepractice requires a vastly different set of skills, not only in conducting services, and conducting them with excellence. Rising to the top in this field demands both the knowledge of a variety of new skills but also the guided practice to acquire and hone those skills. This course will address the components necessary when providing virtual services coordinated with practice times facilitated by a seasoned Telepractitioner. This is the method of training recommended by Clayton Christenson, Harvard Business School Professor and expert on the Diffusion of Innovation. This course provides both. For those interested in expanding their services by reaching populations that are underserved, this course will prepare the clinician to be ready to practice virtually.
Course Objectives:
This course will cover:
1. Preparation: Introduction to Telepractice: Set goals, reflect on your practice, learn with others.
2. Presence: Demonstrate an online presence, explore the video conferencing environment, manage an online session.
3. Performance: Select clients for Telepractice, evaluate clients online, manage online behavior.
4. Professional Standards: Rights and responsibilities, privacy, confidentiality and security, HIPPA and FERPA compliance.
5. Set-up: Video-conferencing platform, suitable equipment, lighting, troubleshooting and tech support plan.
The training also included assignments to provide practice of various skills and one-on-one tutoring. At the end of the Course you will:
1. State all necessary vocabulary, skills, and concepts;
2. Have practiced all skills necessary to execute an excellent service using telepractice.
